What is NLP?
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (also Neuro-Linguistic Programming, NLP, from the English. Neuro-linguistic programming) – the direction in psychotherapy and practical psychology, is not recognized by the academic community, based on the techniques of modeling (copying) of verbal and nonverbal behavior of people who have achieved success To some or region, and a set of relationships between forms of speech, eye movements, body and memory.
It was developed in the 1960s – 1970s, a group of collaborators, soon became popular. Currently, NLP practiced mainly training companies and business organizations in the psychological training for staff. About NLP produced a large number of popular literature.
NLP is sometimes classified as parascientific direction. There are several studies on the effectiveness of NLP with a positive result, but the majority of scientific experiments say about the ineffectiveness of NLP techniques and they have no scientific basis. Some critics have expressed doubts about the ethical use of NLP. Scientific surveys show that NLP contains a number of factual mistakes and does not give the results that supporters say this direction. Critics draw attention not only to the lack of reliable experimental confirmation of the effectiveness of NLP, but also on the characteristic features of pseudo-present in the concepts of direction, its name and the terminology used. A number of researchers who analyzed the factors of fraud in the fields of medicine, psychology and psychiatry, NLP list among the most discredited of therapeutic practices.
